Resul Pookutty is one of India’s most distinguished sound technicians. His work as a sound designer, production mixer, sound effects and Foley editor and Re-recording mixer has brought Indian cinema sound to a new level and international acclaim.
His work in the film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ won him the prestigious- Academy Award of Merit, more popularly known as The Oscar Award, given in recognition of the highest level of achievement in film making. He also won the British Academy of Film and Television Arts award (BAFTA) and the Cinema Audio Society award (CAS) for the same film, making him the first and only Asian to win all these laurels. Now a member of the Academy, CAS, MPSE of America.
Rajeev Ravi is an acclaimed Cinematographer, based out of Mumbai and Kochi. A 1997 graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India, his first independent film was `Chandni Bar’ in 2001. He went on to be awarded the Best Cinematographer SICA (South Indian Cinematographers Association award and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award – both in 2003.
Ravi continues his cinematic collaborations with films like Classmates, No Smoking, Dev D., Gulaal, That Girl in Yellow Boots, and more recently The Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 1 and 2, which was showcased at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012. Apart from these, he has also shot several Television Commercials.
He has launched into his directorial debut with ‘Annayum Resulum” in Malayalam.
Madhu Neelakandan is a renowned Cinematographer with 12 feature films and numerous commercials into his credit. A graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India, Madhu started his independent work with Malayalam films like Saphalam, Ivar, Vajram and Masters. He went on to shoot Hindi films like Free Kick, Chal Chala Chal and Kushti. Madhu has also been the Second unit Cinematographer for `Don’ and `Kahaani’.
Sunil Babu is an award winning Production Designer with more than 20 films to his credit. From the climes of Kashmir in `Lakshya’ and `Tahaan’ to a pre Independence Kerala village in `Before the Rains’, Sunil Babu has created and embellished the backdrops for several Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi films. His filmography includes popular Hindi films like Lakshya, Ghajini, Paa, Iqbal and Special Chabbies. He has bagged many awards for Production Design including the Kerala state Film award in 2009. Sunil Babu set up his production design studio, `Colourpencils’ in Chennai and has base offices in Mumbai and Kerala.
AjithKumar B. is an editor based out of Kerala. He is the recipient of three National Awards for best editing in both feature film and non-feature films categories. Ajith is a 1999 graduate of the Film and Television Institute with a Specialisation in Editing. He has directed six Documentary films and edited more than 35 documentary films on various issues all over India. He has edited 30 feature films in Malayalam and two in Hindi. Many of his films like Naalu Pennungal, Mazha, Sayanam, Nizhalkkuthu, Bhavam, Sancharam and short films like Agni, Encounter with a Life Living, Atman, Repentance, Voices, Of Confucius have been selected to several Indian and international festivals, and have won several National and State Awards.
Before he was drawn to pursue his passion as a career, Kamal was a journalist with a political weekly `Sameeksha’. Later he joined the national film school in Pune, Film and Television Institute of India, to do his Masters in Film Direction. The shorts he directed as part of academic projects (Aaryavarth and Vadhakramam) was showcased in film festivals globally, and even won the Special Jury Award at Rio De Janiero International Film Festival and the Kodak Film School Competition. He wrote and directed `Alif’ in 2010 as the Acting Diploma film for F.T.I.I Pune. It was showcased at the Mumbai International Film Festival in the same year. After graduating in 2004,he worked on various projects with Santosh Sivan as an associate director and writer.
